Generalized Gini coefficient: an alternative approach

Abstract
The purpose of this note is to propose an alternative and intuitively simpler derivation of the generalized Gini coefficient, and to show how a number of different applications follow directly from this alternative derivation. In Sector 1 we present the derivation; Sections 2 and 3 give some further applications and derivations.
